Are you a dedicated and compassionate teaching assistant with experience in supporting children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join a welcoming primary school in High Barnet as an SEN Teaching Assistant.

Role Description:

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with a delightful Year 2 boy who has ASD. While he does not display challenging behavior, he requires assistance with transitions and emotional regulation throughout the day. Your role will involve providing one-on-one support, helping him navigate the school environment, and ensuring a smooth and positive learning experience.

Key Responsibilities:

Supporting Transitions: Assist the student in transitioning between different activities and environments within the school.
Emotional Regulation: Help the student manage and regulate their emotions, providing reassurance and a safe space when needed.
Individualized Support: Tailor your support to the specific needs and learning style of the student.
Collaboration: Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator), and parents to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
Record Keeping: Maintain records of the student’s progress and any notable observations.
Promoting Independence: Encourage the student to develop independence and self-help skills.


Experience working with children with ASD or similar special educational needs.
A compassionate and patient approach to supporting children’s emotional well-being.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Relevant qualifications or training in special education or SEN support (desirable).
