We have come across a wonderful opportunity within a school located in the heart of Enfield that offers a fulfilling role as a Key Stage 1 Primary SEN Teaching Assistant in the London Borough of Enfield. This school, with its rich history and diverse student population, operates on a 3 form-entry basis and prides itself on being a non-faith-based institution that welcomes individuals from all cultural backgrounds. With an OFSTED rating of Good, the school excels in maintaining excellent behavioral and attendance records. The position is full-time, from 8:15 am to 3:30 pm, and involves providing one-on-one support to a child with Autism who is higher on the spectrum and non-verbal. Therefore, the ideal candidate must possess patience, compassion, and an alternative ability to communicate effectively, preferably with PECs training.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience working with children with ASD or possess qualifications related to SEN or ASD. Essential qualities include kindness, compassion, patience, and empathy.

Responsibilities for this role include:

  • Providing targeted support to Key Stage 1 students with special educational needs.
  • Implementing tailored learning plans and employing dynamic teaching methodologies to meet the unique needs of each child.
  • Cultivating an inclusive and encouraging learning environment that prioritizes the social and emotional well-being of every Key Stage 1 student.
  • Actively engaging students in stimulating classroom activities to ensure their participation and enthusiasm in their educational journey.
  • Building strong partnerships with parents, guardians, and fellow professionals to ensure a holistic approach to each child’s development.

Skills and qualifications required for this role include:

  • Proven experience working with children in an educational setting, specifically within Key Stage 1.
  • Profound understanding of special educational needs, demonstrating adaptability in implementing effective teaching approaches.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with teaching staff, parents, and stakeholders.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting the individual needs of each Key Stage 1 child.
