Job Description

We have come across a wonderful opportunity within a school located in the heart of Enfield that offers a fulfilling role as a Key Stage 1 Primary SEN Teaching Assistant in the London Borough of Enfield. This school, with its rich history and diverse student population, operates on a 3 form-entry basis and prides itself on being a non-faith-based institution that welcomes individuals from all cultural backgrounds. With an OFSTED rating of Good, the school excels in maintaining excellent behavioral and attendance records. Conveniently accessible via public transportation links such as the Tube and Bus routes, commuting to the school is straightforward.

The position is full-time, from 8:15 am to 3:30 pm, and involves providing one-on-one support to a child with Autism who is higher on the spectrum and non-verbal. Therefore, the ideal candidate must possess patience, compassion, and an alternative ability to communicate effectively, preferably with PECs training.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience working with children with ASD or possess qualifications related to SEN or ASD. Essential qualities include kindness, compassion, patience, and empathy.

Responsibilities for this role include:

  • Providing targeted support to Key Stage 1 students with special educational needs.
  • Implementing tailored learning plans and employing dynamic teaching methodologies to meet the unique needs of each child.
  • Cultivating an inclusive and encouraging learning environment that prioritizes the social and emotional well-being of every Key Stage 1 student.
  • Actively engaging students in stimulating classroom activities to ensure their participation and enthusiasm in their educational journey.
  • Building strong partnerships with parents, guardians, and fellow professionals to ensure a holistic approach to each child’s development.

Skills and qualifications required for this role include:

  • Proven experience working with children in an educational setting, specifically within Key Stage 1.
  • Profound understanding of special educational needs, demonstrating adaptability in implementing effective teaching approaches.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with teaching staff, parents, and stakeholders.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting the individual needs of each Key Stage 1 child.
