Are you passionate about making a positive impact on the lives of children with Special Educational Needs (SEN)? Do you have experience working with SEN students in a school setting? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as a SEN Teaching Assistant at a vibrant 3-form entry school located in Harrow. This role will also centre around a pupil with diabetes so familiarity with overseeing or administering medication is essential.

Job Description:

·         As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the learning and development of students with special educational needs within our school community. Your responsibilities will include:

·         Providing one-on-one or small group support to SEN students, both inside and outside the classroom, to help them access the curriculum and achieve their full potential.

·         Collaborating with teachers and other educational professionals to implement individual education plans (IEPs) and adapt learning materials to meet the diverse needs of SEN students.

·         Assisting with the management of behavior and implementing strategies to promote positive behavior and emotional well-being among SEN students.

·         Supporting SEN students with personal care needs, including toileting, feeding, and mobility assistance, as required.

·         Monitoring and recording the progress of SEN students, providing regular feedback to teachers and contributing to progress reviews and educational assessments.

·         Creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment where SEN students feel valued, respected, and empowered to succeed.

·         Establishing effective communication channels with parents/carers, keeping them informed about their child’s progress and involving them in the development of individual support plans.

·         Additional Requirement: The right candidate will be working closely with a child with diabetes. Therefore, experience overseeing or administering diabetes medication is essential.

Requirements:

·         Previous experience working with SEN students in a school setting is essential.

·         A relevant qualification in SEN support or education (e.g., Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, CACHE Diploma in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools) is desirable.

·         Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents/carers.

·         Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting the learning and well-being of SEN students.

·         Flexibility and adaptability to meet the changing needs of SEN students and the school environment.

·         Commitment to promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion in education.
