Job Description

You will be committed to providing a high-quality education to all our students, including those with Special Education Needs (SEN). They are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic General Special Education Needs Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) to join our dynamic team and support Key Stage 1 (KS1) students on their learning journey.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work one-on-one or in small groups with students who have special educational needs, providing targeted support and guidance.
  • Collaborate with class teachers and the SEN Coordinator to implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and adapt teaching materials to suit individual learning styles.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes the social and emotional well-being of all students.
  • Assist in the preparation and delivery of differentiated lessons, ensuring that all students can access the curriculum.
  • Monitor and track the progress of students with SEN, providing regular feedback to teachers, parents, and relevant stakeholders.
  • Actively participate in meetings, workshops, and training sessions related to SEN provision and inclusive education.
  • Contribute to the development and review of the school’s SEN policies and practices.
    Qualifications and Skills:
  • Minimum of a Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent (e.g., NVQ, CACHE).
  • Experience working with children with special educational needs, preferably in a KS2 setting.
  • Strong understanding of SEN legislation, including the SEND Code of Practice.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Empathy, patience, and a genuine passion for supporting the diverse needs of all learners.
    Ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative team, while also showing initiative and autonomy when required.
