Special Education Needs Teaching Assistant (SEMH Specialism)

Location: Hackney, East London

Role:

Full-Time Special Education Needs Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) with specialisation in Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

Hours of Work: 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM, Term Time

Pay:

Special Education Needs Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) Daily Rate: £85-£100

Our client, a well-regarded school in Hackney, East London, is seeking a dedicated Special Education Needs Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) with expertise in addressing the needs of students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges. This full-time, long-term position offers an opportunity to work closely with students, providing tailored support to help them achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

Providing one-on-one support to students with SEMH needs, including assisting with academic tasks and promoting emotional well-being.
Collaborating with classroom teachers to implement individualised education plans (IEPs) and behaviour management strategies.
Supporting students in developing social skills and fostering positive relationships with peers.
Assisting the SENCO and other professionals in assessing student progress and adjusting interventions as needed.

Requirements:

Previous experience working with students with SEMH needs is highly desirable.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students and colleagues.
A patient and compassionate approach to supporting students with diverse learning needs.
Relevant qualifications or training in Special Education, Psychology, or related fields would be advantageous.
